"Why don’t you open up your own fucking restaurant? How about that?"

David Chang's restaurant Dynasty, Momofuku, doesn't really care that we're in an economic recession. How do I know this...well if they really cared they wouldn't be offering a fried chicken dinner for $100. The fried chicken dinner includes two whole fried chickens, one southern style and one korean style. the dinner comes with mu shu pancakes, long spicy peppers, baby carrots, red ball radishes, shiso leaves, bibb lettuce, four sauces and an herb basket. You need a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people to order this platter (click here for reservations) and you can't ask for substitutions at all (sorry vegetarians!) Alan Richman from GQ suggested that Momofuku owner David Chang should allow patrons to order one chicken if they choose and make the fried chicken menu available to everyone instead of just parties of 4-8 people. David Cheng's response: "Why don’t you open up your own fucking restaurant? How about that?" I love Momofuku!

Sorry For Not Updating!

Hey to all my readers! I deeply apologize for not updating my blog for the past month...but I do have a good reason. I was in Rwanda, Africa on a community service trip (I will post pictures once I return home). I am currently at Yale university because we have to give a presentation about the trip and right after I leave Yale I will be on vacation in the US Virgin Islands, so expect an update in about 3 more weeks. Once again sorry to all my readers, and I will post pictures of Rwanda as soon as I can!

7th Year Butter Anniversary

Mega Restaurant/Lounge Butter (415 Lafayette St. between Astor Pl. & 4th St.), that according to NYC Prep's Jessie is "full of freshman", is is hosting their 7th Year Anniversary party on July 7th 2009. Chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli has prepared a four course menu with wine/drink pairings just for the occasion. The night will start off with a tour of the restaurant by Guarnaschelli and then the special menu will be served. The four course menu will be $65 (W/O tax & tip) and to make a reservation call 212-253-2828 and mention “Zagat Presents.” (I got this update from Zagat). Enjoy!

Day & Night Brunch July 4th at Day & Night Restaurant Beach Club

The men behind Merkato 55's Saturday brunch parties bring you on July 4th 2009...an Independence Day brunch at the Capri Hotel's Day & Night Restaurant Beach Club (ahh, yes you can breath now)! I was just emailed by Merkato this link (click here) and I was swept to a website with blasting dance music informing me about a brunch party at the Day & Night Restaurant Beach Club. You can call Day & Night at 631-731-3309 or email them at reservations@dayandnighthamptons.com to get more info or to make a reservation. Whether you're partying during brunch at Merkato in the Meatpacking District or living it up at Day & Night Restaurant Beach Club, you're gauranteed to have a blast this 4th of July!

“I Mean, I Liked STK And Butter, Too, Before They Were Full Of Freshman.”

NYC Prep just aired on Bravo last night for the first time. NYC Prep is about 6 teenagers who come from wealthy families and deal with prep school life in Manhattan. Its similar to those "Real House Wives Of (Insert Major City Here)" shows but with kids instead of house wives. I was expecting these kids to be doing something outrageous and insane, I don't know something along the lines of renting out Kiss & Fly just because it was a Saturday night, but that of course didn't happen. The entire episode was essentially about:

1. General Background info on all 6 kids (vital to any pilot episode)
2. 2 girls wanting this boy (Sebastian)
3. PC (one of the guys on the show) saying the dumbest and most ignorant things possible
4. Operation Smile (a major charity one of the girls is helping out with)
5. Japonais

In regards to #4, the places these kids went to weren't outrageous or out of the ordinary. I mean, they went to Japonais...twice, once for lunch (which its always dead during) and once for dinner. Then they also went to 212 (awful food) and this Thai restaurant in the Village that looks really nice on the show, but in person looks cheap. The only restaurant I was impressed with was Philippe (a spawn of Mr. Chow). All and all, I wasn't impressed with any of the things that happened on the show. Nothing spectacular happened, and most of the restaurants they went to I've been to...multiple times (and I'm a 16 year old from Queens, NY...not a 16 year old who lives on 76th and Park whose parent's have a multi-million dollar bank account).

Serendipity 3

Media_httpwwwurbanspooncomblink39343biglinkgif_hdpdghdwqrcfdep

I was just browsing through Urbanspoon.com's data base and found Serendipity 3! Serendipity 2 was closed down due to a rodent infestation, and I'm not too sure why the first one closed down, but all I know is Serendipity is at it again with its 3rd try! This will be a quick review as Serendipity is as simple as Max Brener but with a slightly different feel to it. Serendipity serves giant portions of mediocre, overpriced food and the only reason people go there is for the desserts which are massive and a cavity waiting to happen. Serendipity is famous for their giant, massive ice cream sundaes that can be shared amongst 3 people, but most people order one for themselves (this shows how fat Americans are). Like I said, their hot food is mediocre at best but the portions are massive (such as the yard long hot dog) so people who don't know a thing about food love it. Serendipity is also a HUGE tourist trap which is why there's always an hour wait for any party bigger than 2. Unless you're a tourist or under the age of 14, there's really no reason to visit Serendipity as the food is awful, the decor is like a slightly better version of a diner and the sundaes are good but not worth the hour wait. For good sundaes with shorter waits, go to Max Brener or even DBGB (but make a reservation at DBGB otherwise the wait may be even worse than Serendipity).
