Stussy Spring 09

Stussy just released their new Spring 2009 line about, an hour and 45 minutes ago. I just checked it out and there are some hot tees and hoodies, but nothing to run out and buy today. You can get anything Stussy has released on their online store now and at any Stussy retailer (if they've received stock already).

My New Life Goal...To Get A Reservation at Momofuku Ko

As I was skimming through the archived articled of the New York Times' Dining & Wine section, I came across a restaurant that seemed a little out of the ordinary. This restaurant is called Momofuku Ko and is located on 1st ave. and E 10th street in the East Village of New York. According to the NY Times, you had to make reservations 6 days in advance and exactly at 10 AM in order to get a table at one of the time slots provided (the whole point of the restaurant is to sample a 2 hour tasting menu, so they have reservations for only certain times, such as, you can't make a reservation for 8 PM but instead you can make it for 9:10 PM or 7:40 PM). Now, I found this a bit absurd so I checked their website and attempted to make a reservation. I thought making reservations for Tao was difficult, but this is a whole different game. You need to make an account with them and provide credit card info and things like that. But when you do make your account and begin making the reservation, you can only make a reservation for a party of 1,2 or 4...no more, no less or nothing in between. Once you pick your party size, you are shown a time table containing the next 6 days and the possible times. Now, if you didn't make your reservation on Sunday at 10 AM, you will find all these slots filled with Xs (occupied) rather than checks (available). So basically, you have 60 seconds on one day of the week to make your reservation. But apparently this is worth the hastle. The NY Times gives it 3 stars, which is pretty rare and New York Magazine gives it 4/5 stars. But if you are dying to try one of Momofuku's restaurants, but can't get into Ko, try Momofuku Ssäm Bar (located on 2nd ave and E 13th st). Ko's 2 hour tasting menu is $100 a person and Ssäm Bar is a pre-fixe menu (but prices aren't posted on Momofuku's website). Good Luck!

Play Cloths Spring 2009

I just got Play Cloths email containing the release date of their Spring 2009 collection (its Feb. 13th by the way). The email contains a picture of a Tee and just a little bit about their line up. They state:

In the fashion industry as in the music industry, most fledgling brands approach their second season trying to avoid the dreaded sophomore jinx. Not one to rest on the laurels of the previous season's success, Play Cloths enters the fray of the Spring with a smart collection of Graphic tees, Wovens and Outerwear that further embody the "all work, all play" aesthetic.

If the rest of the line up is anything like this Tee below, Bape and BBC better watch out! Their new season releases February 13th!

A Bathing Ape Online Store,,,With A Catch (because god forbid anything from Bape doesn't come with a catch)

A Bathing Ape just opened...THEIR ONLINE STORE! Yes this means that you don't need to make phone orders anymore and can purchase Bape items right off their website! But here's the catch, you need a Bape Card! Don't worry, word is A Bathing Ape is making an online store for the rest of us who don't have a residence in Japan nor have a Japanese bank account.

Okay I just realized, you can register without a Bape Card...you just need to know how to read Japanese! Good Luck!

Cafe Bouley (Upstairs at Bouley)

Media_httpwwwurbanspooncomblink42384biglinkgif_kxqthggeojszhmx

Cafe Bouley is one of the three Daniel Bouley restaurants located in TriBeca. There is the Bakery located across the street and Secession, located on the same street as the bakery but down the block. Cafe Bouley is the less formal of the two restaurants, and was originally Daniel Bouley's cooking school; but he transformed it into a restaurant. The menu is quite simple and mainly contains Continental dishes, and some Asian inspired dishes (such as miso soup). The food is great and isn't extraordinarily expensive (think about $10 an appetizer and $20 max. for an entree, but then again that's the lunch prices). I love how the kitchen was right in front of you, and you could see the one chef cook everything. Its a small place and gets crowded easily, but I wouldn't say you NEED a reservation (I was a party of two and I got seated immediately). Next time you're in TriBeca, check out Cafe Bouley!

JG Melon

Media_httpwwwurbanspooncomblink30459biglinkgif_daowtqdehfyibcl

Okay I've been in the mood to write restaurant reviews for sometime now, but I promise to keep the street wear and restaurant reviews balanced. But there's this burger place called JG Melon that is out of this world. It's located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on E 74th St and 3rd Ave. When you walk in it looks like an old fashion restaurant, with a full bar that could have came straight out of the 1950s. Last I recall, they do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes to get in. Now, once you do get a seat be sure to order the burgers. The burgers are big and juicy and JG Melon actually cuts their fries in a circular shape with ridges on it which is an interesting feature. For the $8.25 you'll spend on a burger, its worth it 100%. JG Melon is a very classic place with good food and good people, definitely a place to visit the next time you're on the Upper East Side!

Burger Joint at the Parker Meridien Hotel

Media_httpwwwurbanspooncomblink23084biglinkgif_ejsffczasazgyfc

The Burger Joint located in the Parker Meridien Hotel in Manhattan, is possibly one of the best burger places to go in the Tri-State area. It just became huge over the past couple of years and believe it or not, there used to be a time where you didn't have to wait on a line to get in. Upon arrival at the lobby of the hotel, you'd never notice the Burger Joint is there...unless the massive line gives it away then just hop right on the back of it and get ready to wait at least 20 minutes to get in. It's really a hole in the wall, but that's okay as the decor makes it perfect for lunch as the Burger Joint is cozy yet fun and entertaining. It's very small and can seat a maximum of probably 50 people (maybe a little bit less), and fighting for a seat is a very common occurrence. They serve ONLY burgers and fries. The fries come in a paper bag (which is another element of the decor), and the burgers come with "the works" which means all you're basic toppings and condiments. The burgers are phenomenal and it really makes it worth $7 a burger. All and all the Burger Joint is a great place to go and have a casual and fun lunch with amazing food included...just be ready to wait on the line to get in.
